Thats the last time I sit in the "whites only" row. Next time, its back of the class in the "colored's" section where I belong.

U-Pass referendum may be coming again. In an unofficial poll, I'm curious what students think? Student union negotiates a good deal for bus pass, students pay small bus pass fee - sounds good to me.

As an ex-Education student and current student driver I'm strongly against the U-Pass initiative. I work my weekends in Calgary and need a car to get down there. On the U-Pass outline proposed last time I would had no choice but to pay a bus pass on top of my current car insurance.
While in my education practicum I had to get to areas of the city that would have required 3 transfers from university residence and a trip time of about an hour and forty minutes for what amounts to a 12-17 minute drive (depending on traffic). If you have to be at your school by 6 or 6:30 am, it's simply not possible to catch a bus sequence to get you there in time. Again, because I was still in Lethbridge for my practicum I wasn't allowed to opt-out.

I think it's great if the students union wants to work with L.A. Transit to improve service or cheapen the costs for students, but if the UPass comes around again you can bet I'll be amongst those who lobby against it until you can choose to opt-out of it freely, not just if you're severely disabled or have a placement in Fort McLeod.
